Overview
Concrete poles are the structural foundation of power distribution and telecommunications infrastructure. Kutehjumble operates an in-house concrete pole manufacturing capability, producing poles to specification and delivering them directly to clients across all regions of The Gambia — from urban centres to rural communities. Whether for utility companies, government agencies, construction firms, or private developers, Kutehjumble provides a reliable, locally produced supply of reinforced concrete poles at competitive quality and cost.
By manufacturing locally in The Gambia, Kutehjumble reduces import dependency, shortens supply lead times, and keeps the cost of infrastructure development accessible — supporting the growth of electricity access and connectivity across the country.
Why concrete poles?
Durability
Reinforced concrete poles withstand tropical weather, high humidity, and termite attack that would degrade timber alternatives — delivering a service life of 30 to 50 years.
Low maintenance
Once installed, concrete poles require virtually no ongoing maintenance, reducing long-term operational costs for utility and telecom operators.
Structural strength
Prestressed and reinforced designs carry heavy conductor loads, cross-arms, and transformers safely — critical for MV and LV distribution networks.
Local availability
Manufactured in-country, Kutehjumble’s poles are available without the long lead times and port delays associated with imported alternatives.

Manufacturing process
-
1
Design & specification
Each pole is engineered to the client’s required length, class, and load-bearing specification — with dimensions and reinforcement calculated to meet local utility and national standards.
-
2
Mould preparation
Steel moulds are cleaned, oiled, and set to the required taper and dimensions before steel reinforcement cages are positioned and secured inside the mould.
-
3
Concrete mixing & casting
High-strength concrete is mixed to the correct water-cement ratio and poured into the mould in controlled layers, with vibration applied to eliminate voids and ensure a dense, uniform structure.
-
4
Curing
Cast poles are cured under controlled conditions for the required period to achieve full design strength — a critical step in ensuring long-term structural performance in the field.
-
5
Quality inspection
Every pole is inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and structural integrity before being approved for delivery. Defective units are rejected and recast.
-
6
Delivery to client
Approved poles are transported directly to the client’s site anywhere in The Gambia, with handling care taken to prevent surface cracking during loading, transit, and offloading.
